US military training aircraft, it was ordered from North American to replace the T6. The idea was to better prepare student pilots to then switch to jet aircraft such as the F84 Thunderjet and F86 Saber.

The first test flights took place in 1949. From 1952 the United States asked for a more powerful version. This will be the T28B version. Then a T28C version for landing on an aircraft carrier will be developed.

With around fifty aircraft still in flight condition, the T28A is rather rare and well sized for its power. Now equipped with a three-bladed propeller, it is very pleasant to maneuver.
